Surrounded by friends and family, Peter crossed the finish line at Mizen Head last night in the pitch dark and lashing rain. He ran an astonishing 586km in just five days, the equivalent of up to 15 marathons! An amazing achievement!
Just about to leave Bantry and there’s been such incredible support along the way. I’ve just over 40km to go. Thank you to everyone! I wanted to take a moment to share the reason behind the run, particularly as today is #WorldSight Day.

I wanted to take a moment to share the reason behind the run, particularly as today is #WorldSight Day. Remember to #LoveYourEyes and never let blindness be a barrier to achieving your ambition. All of the fundraising proceeds will go towards Ireland’s first Vision Van with @ncbi. This will spearhead the delivery of a sight loss support service into the heart of local communities, particularly where eye health services may be harder to reach. This is so important as researchers believe up to 75% of blindness or vision loss is avoidable by early diagnosis or treatment. Big believer in owning your own version of what it means to live with a disability! The @ncbi_sightloss do amazing work to empower people living with sight loss to maximise their independence and engage in things are are meaningful to them. They’re a dynamic organisation who are helping people on the ground. They’ve been a huge source of support to me and my family. I’m hoping the Malin to Mizen Ultra-Endurance Run will be an opportunity to promote the charity and challenge some of the stigmas and limiting beliefs around disability.
